The Iron Maiden - Some Background

Welcome to the world of the Ghoul...

I wrote THE IRON MAIDEN with the intention of continuing the work carried on over the last six decades by many writers, perpetuating that great creation of HP Lovecraft, THE CTHULHU MYTHOS... THE IRON MAIDEN is a dark, brooding and sullen tale, pervasively cold yet with shimmering coruscations of warmth to surprise the reader... the second half of the book has unashamedly adopted the style and language of Lovecraft, the greatest homage I could possibly pay...
It is also fair to say that during my time working in The City of London, I certainly did hear whispers, from time to time, of occult involvement concerning various of the City's luminaries… of course nothing was ever substantiated beyond rumour, but given the pervasiveness of Freemasonic membership there and the phenomenal success, even in adverse trading conditions, of some of those luminaries that had and have many people shaking their heads and wondering 'how?', it is only reasonable that this should form the basis of a wild fictional literary speculation, don't you think?

I'll let you decide whether or not you think that it is speculation…or even to any great degree, fiction…

My occult discoveries have me suspecting Lovecraft on that particular score myself…

'Cthulhu R'lyeh', gentle reader...
